LaMonda Wimberly Swann is a 1995 graduate who was a four-year letter-winner in track and field. A native of Crossett, Arkansas, she was a phenomenal three-time NAIA All-American sprinter who clocked some eye-popping times throughout her collegiate career as a 100 and 200-meter sprinter. In her senior year, she ranked among the NAIA Top 10 finishers in two different categories – second in the 100-meter dash with a 10.98 timing and ninth in the 200-meter dash with a 25.04 reading. However, her personal best time in the 200-meter dash was 23.68. In addition to the 100 and 200-meter dashes, she also was a clutch contributor on the 4X100 and sprint medley relay teams. As a senior and running the first leg, she aided UAPB’s record-setting sprint medley relay squad that ranked second nationally with a 1:43.85 timing. In that same year, she anchored the 4X100-meter relay unit that ranked fourth nationally with a 47.16 clocking. She ended an awesome senior year by helping the Lady Lions finish 12th at the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field championships in Vancouver, Canada. She also was a part of UAPB’s back-to-back NAIA District 17 Indoor Track and Field championships during her junior and senior seasons. She is a biology teacher at Dr. John Horn High School in the Mesquite (Texas) Independent School District where she also is an assistant cross country and track coach. She attends One Community Church in Garland and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
