The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Mental Health as a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community. Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social wellness. It influences our thoughts, feelings and behaviors, as well as our ability to manage stress, connect with others, and make decisions. Maintaining mental health is crucial at all stages of life, including childhood ,adolescence and adulthood. During your college years, you may experience an array of concerns. The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff has many resources available to support your mental health.

Alcohol Disorder

Alcohol use disorder is characterized by a problematic pattern of alcohol consumption, which includes difficulty in controlling the amount consumed, a strong focus on alcohol, and persisting in its use despite adverse consequences. This condition also entails an increased tolerance to alcohol, necessitating higher quantities to achieve the same effects, or experiencing withdrawal symptoms upon a sudden reduction or cessation of drinking .
