Brian Collins is a 1980 graduate who was a four-year letterman in baseball. A native of Franklin, Louisiana, where a hub of athletic talent migrated to UAPB over the years, he was a left-handed pitcher who had an arsenal of pitches. He had a 97-mile per hour fast ball, a “nasty” curve ball and screw ball which was his best pitch. He posted 29 wins and five losses during his four-year career. He also started at first base when he was not pitching and finished his playing career with a batting average above .345. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in accounting. After graduation, he was heavily involved with kids and coached a Little League baseball team to a championship game in Nashville, Tennessee. He has served on the Board of Directors of “Big Brothers” and also served as a board member of the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. In addition, he also has served as a board member of the Rejoice Ministry, Inc. He has spent most of his professional career with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and has received the Manager of the Year Award, the Sam Walton Blue Coat Award for Leadership and the Sam Walton Hero Award for Wal-Mart Corporation. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
