Pine Bluff, Arkansas: Roosevelt is a 1974 graduate who was a four-year letterman in basketball. A native of Bastrop, Louisiana, he had a very unique collegiate basketball playing career as he performed at a high level during two different time frames. Coming out of high school, he was regarded as one of the top offensive and defensive guards in Louisiana. He made an immediate impact during his freshman year and helped UAPB capture the SWAC championship in 1967. His collegiate career was interrupted in the spring of 1969 when he was drafted into the United States Army and spent three years in Germany. After completing his military duty, he returned to UAPB for the final two years of his eligibility and did not miss a beat on the basketball court. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound team captain averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds over his last two seasons while being chosen to the All-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference (AIC) team in 1972. After graduation, he continued his connection with the athletic program and served in various positions for over 30 years. During that time span, he was an assistant men’s basketball coach and long-time clock operator for football and basketball. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
