Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. (May 12) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team season came to an end with a 10-1 loss to Alabama State in an elimination game of the 2017 Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament, here Friday afternoon at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
 
UAPB finished the contest with four hits, whereas ASU recorded 12.
 
Paige Garcia went two-for-three from the plate to lead the Lady Lions, whereas Laura Aguilar went three-for-four to lead the Lady Hornets.
 
Justine Jean (7-12) received the win for ASU.   She gave up four hits, one earned run and struck out three in six innings of work.
 
Angelique Ramos received loss for the Lady Lions.  In her two innings of work, allowing six hits and four earned runs in the 11 batters she faced.
 
ASU jumped out to a 6-0 lead with the Lady Hornets plating four runs in the top of the second inning and two in the fourth.
UAPB scored their lone run of the contest in the bottom of the fourth inning with Maria Aguilar scoring on an ASU infielder's error to cut the Lady Hornets' lead to 6-1.
 
ASU plated four more runs in the top of the sixth inning to invoke the eight-run mercy rule for the 10-1 final.
