HOUSTON, Texas — The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team got a complete-game performance from Kaydrian Fields, who allowed two runs over nine innings to lead the Lady Lions to a 3–2 extra-inning victory over Texas Southern on Friday.
Fields (2–2) earned the win after scattering eight hits and three walks while striking out three across the full nine innings.
At the plate, Chasney Cooper led UAPB, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI to record the Lady Lions' only multi-hit performance of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Texas Southern struck first, scoring two runs in the second inning to take an early 2–0 lead.
The Lady Lions answered in the fifth inning, plating two runs to tie the game 2–2 and shift the momentum.
After several scoreless innings from both pitching staffs, UAPB broke through in the ninth inning, scoring the go-ahead run to take a 3–2 lead.
Fields then closed the door in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory for the Lady Lions.
