Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. (May 10) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team fell into the loser's bracket with a 5-3 loss to Alabama A&M in the opening round of the 2017 Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.

UAPB finished the contest with five hits, whereas AAMU finished with 10.Â

Monique Nikolao finished with a team high two hits to lead the Lady Lions from the plate, whereas both Viridiana Ramos and Brandi Forman finished with two hits each to lead the Lady Bulldogs.

Caitlyn Hayden (12-12) received the win for AAMU. She gave up five hits, three earned runs and struck out six in seven innings of work.

Karia Beth Hall (9-14) received the loss for UAPB. In her outing in the circle, Hall gave up 10 hits, two earned runs and struck out three in seven innings.

 AAMU jumped out to 1-0 lead in their half of the first inning with Kia Lang scoring on a Tiana Sanders double to right field.        Â

UAPB plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead with
Tonnay Hawkins scoring on a
Shanice Akins fielder's choice and both
Ta'Lyn Moody and Alex Taylor on a Karia Hall single to left field.

AAMU reclaimed the lead with the Lady Bulldogs plating four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 5-3 advantage over UAPB.      Â
