Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 28) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team won their ninth straight with a doubleheader sweep of Southern University with the Lady Lions pulling out a 4-3 win in game one and defeating the Jaguars, 11-2 in game two, here Friday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.

UAPB finished the first game with seven hits, while SU tallied six hits.

Tonnay Hawkins and
Ta'Lyn Moody finished with two hits apiece to lead the Lady Lions from the plate.Â

SU also had two players to finish with two hit each in Sydney Andrews and Jaslyn Perrodin.

Karia Hall (9-13) picked up the win in game one. Hall gave up five hits, three earned runs and striking out six in six and one-third innings, while
Angelique Ramos (2) got the save. She gave up one hit and struck out two in two-third innings of work.

Kayleigh Thomas (4-2) took the loss for the Jaguars. She gave up three hits, one earned run and struck out one in two and two-third innings of work.

UAPB plated three runs in the bottom of the third inning with both Hawkins and
Shanice Akins scoring on a Moody on a triple. Then Moody would then score on a Taylor single to give the Lady Lions, a 3-0 lead over the Jaguars.

The Jaguars pushed across a run in the top of the fifth inning to cut UAPB's lead to 3-1.Â

UAPB added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with
Kameron Graham scoring a Hawkins single to left field.

The Jaguars pushed two runs in the top of the seventh inning for the 4-3 final.

In game two, UAPB punched out 12 hits, while SU finished with two.

Moody recorded three hits in the contest to lead the Lady Lions from the plate, while both Kiara Suttles and Tiara Scott finished with one hit each to lead the Jaguars.

Ramos (8-8) received the win for the Lady Lions. She pitched five innings, allowing two hits and two earned runs in the 19 batters she faced.

Scarlett Brock (2-3) took the loss for SU. She gave up 10 hits and five earned runs in the two and two-third innings of work.

UAPB took an 11-0 lead into the top of the fourth inning with the Lady Lions plating two runs in the bottom of the first and nine runs in the bottom of the third inning.Â
