UAPB COMPLETES SWEEP OF PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
Box Score PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (April 15) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team completed their sweep of Prairie View A&M with a 5-4 win in game one and an 11-5 win in game two, here Saturday afternoon at Prairie View A&M Softball field.
 
In game one, UAPB finished the contest with a game high 10 hits with Tonnay Hawkins leading the team in hits with three.
 
PVAMU tallied seven hits in the first game with Laurisa Hernandez finishing with two hits to lead the Lady Panthers.
 
Karia Beth Hall (7-13) got the win for the Lady Lions.  She gave up four earned runs and struck out two in seven innings of work. 
 
Ashley Higgins received the loss for the Lady Panthers.  She pitched six inning, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs in the 30 batters she faced.
 
PVAMU jumped out to a 3-0 lead with the Lady Panthers plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. 
 
In their half of the fourth inning, the Lady Lions scored four run on three hits and one PVAMU error to take a 4-3 lead over the Lady Panthers on a Hall grand slam.
 
PVAMU tied the contest at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth inning with Shelby Williams scoring on a Destinee Williams single to right field.
 
A Ta'lyn Moody single down the right field line scoring Shanice Akins in the top of the seventh inning to give the Lady Lions the 5-4 win.
 
In the second game, UAPB finished the contest with 12 hits, while PVAMU punched out 10.
 
UAPB was led by Moody with a game high three hits, while both Shelby Williams and Tianna Thomas finished with two hits apiece to lead PVAMU.
 
Angelique Ramos (5-8) got the win in the second contest.  She faced 30 batters, allowing 10 hits, four earned runs and striking out two in seven innings of work.
 
Taylor Drury (7-10) received the loss in game two for the Lady Panthers.   She gave up seven hits and six earned runs in one and two-third innings of work.
 
UAPB jumped out to a 2-0 lead with the Lady Lions pushing across two runs in the top of the first inning.  Moody scored the first run of the inning on an Akins single to right field.  Then Akins would then score on an Alexandria Taylor single up the middle.
 
The Lady Lions increased their lead to 9-0 as UAPB plated seven runs in the top of the second inning.
 
PVAMU plated a run in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 9-1 in favor of the Lady Lions. 
 
UAPB would plate two more runs in the contest with the Lady Lions plating one run in their half of the fourth inning and another in the top of the sixth inning. 
 
PVAMU would score three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for the 11-4 final.
