UAPB WINS BIG IN GAME ONE OVER GRAMBLING STATE, 15-2

Box Score GRAMBLING, La. (April 1) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team split a doubleheader with Grambling State with the Lady Lions defeating the Lady Tigers, 15-2 in game one and GSU winning game two 5-2, here Saturday afternoon at Lady Tiger Field.
 
UAPB tallied 14 hits in in game one with Kameron Graham finishing with three hits to lead the Lady Lions.
 
GSU punched out five hits with Tia Coleman finishing with two hits to lead the Lady Tigers.
 
Karia Hall picked up the win in game one.  She gave up five hits, two earned runs and struck out four in five innings of work.
 
D'Maria Matthews received the loss for GSH. She pitched one and two-third innings, allowing five hits, and six earned runs in the 14 batters she faced.
 
UAPB jumped out to a 12-2 lead with the Lady Lions plating five runs in their half of the first, two in the second and five in the third, whereas GSU plated one run in the bottom of the first and one in the bottom of the third inning. 
 
The Lady Lions pushed across three more runs in the top of the fifth for the 15-2 final invoking the eight-run mercy rule.
 
In the second game, UAPB recorded five hits with Maria Aguilar finishing with three hits to lead the Lady Lions.
 
GSU tallied six hits with Tiffany Doss finishing with two hits to lead the Lady Tigers.
 
Caitlin McDowell received the win for GSU.  She pitched seven inning, allowing five hits and two earned runs in the 27 batters she faced.
 
Angelique Ramos took the loss for UAPB.  She gave up six hits and struck out one in six innings of work.
 
GSU pushed across five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.
 
UAPB plated one run in the top of the second inning and one in top of the seventh inning.   Alexandria scored on an Aguilar single in the second.  Then Graham would scoring on an Aguilar single in the seventh inning for the 5-2 final.
