Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 3) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team dropped a 13-1 decision to Belmont University in their first game of the University of Memphis Blues City Classic, here Friday afternoon at the Softball Complex.

UAPB finished the contest with four hits, while Belmont recorded 14.

The Lady Lions had four players to finish with one hit each in
Ta'Lyn Moody,
Paige Garcia,
Monique Nikolao and
Shanice Akins.

BU was led by Shersty Stanton with three hits.
Â
Brooklin Lee (4-1) received the win for BU. She pitched two innings in relief, allowing one hit, one earned run and striking out three in the nine batters she faced.   Ashley Johnson the BU starter pitched three innings, allowing three hits and striking out two in the 14 batters she faced. Also Marshall Morgan spent one inning in the circle for the Bruins.

Karia Beth Hall (1-8) received the loss for UAPB. She pitched five and one-third innings, allowing 10 hits, eight earned runs and striking out two in the 29 batters she faced.Â
Angelique Ramos saw action in the circle for UAPB as she pitched two-third innings in relief, allowing four hits and five earned runs.

BU jumped out to a 5-0 lead over UAPB with the Bruins plating two runs in their half of the third and three runs in their half of the fifth inning.

UAPB scored their only run of the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning with
Tonnay Hawkins scoring on an
Alexandria Taylor sacrifice fly to right field.

The Bruins plated eight more runs in their half of the sixth inning for the 13-1 final, invoking the eight-run mercy rule.
