Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. (March 18) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team dropped a doubleheader to Alabama State with the Lady Hornets defeating the Lady Lions, 8-0 in game one and 12-4 in game two, here Saturday afternoon at Barbara Williams Stadium.
 
In game one, UAPB finished the contest with six hits, whereas ALST recorded 10.
 
The Lady Lions was paced by both Tonnay Hawkins and Kameron Graham with two hits each.
 
Both Kendall Core and Taylor Rosser finished with two hits apiece to lead the Lady Hornets.
 
Justine Jean (1-6) picked up the win for the Lady Hornets.  She pitches six scoreless innings in the circle, allowing six hits and striking out two in the 29 batters she faced.
 
Angelique Ramos received the loss for UAPB.  She gave up 10 hits, six earned runs and striking out one in five and two-third innings of work.
 
ALST plated two runs in their half of the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and three in the sixth to invoke the eight-run mercy rule for the 8-0 final.
 
In game two, UAPB recorded two hits, whereas ALST finished with 12.
 
Both Hawkins and Paige Garcia finished with a hit each to lead the Lady Lions.
 
ALST had four players to finish with two hits apiece in Laura Aguilar, Kaylee Davis, Kendall core and Charlene Castro.
 
Charlene Castro (1-6) received the win for the Lady Hornets.  She pitched one and two-third innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out three in the six batters she faced.  Vanessa Bradford, the ALST starters pitched three and one third innings, allowing one hit and striking out three in the 18 batters she faced.
 
Karia Beth Hall (3-12) received the loss for UAPB.  She gave up 12 hits, five earned runs and struck out two in the 28 batters she faced.
 
UAPB jumped out to a 3-0 lead with the Lady Lions plating three runs in the top of the first inning on three ALST errors.
 
The Lady Hornets retook the lead in their half of the first inning with ALST scoring four runs in the inning to take a 4-3 lead.
 
UAPB tied the contest at 4-4 in the top of the second inning with Hall scoring on a Lady Hornet error.
 
The Lady Hornets would then plate three runs in their half of the second, two in the fourth and three in the fifth for the 12-4 final invoking the eight-run mercy rule.
