Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. (March 17) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team dropped an 8-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup to Alabama State, here Friday afternoon at Barbara Williams Stadium.

UAPB finished the contest with four hits, whereas ASU finished with 12.

The Lady Lions had four players to finish with one hit each in
Ta'Lyn Moody,
Alexandria Taylor,
Monique Nikolao and
Shanice Akins.

ASU was led by Valerie Centeno with three hits.

Vanessa Bradford (6-6) received the win for the Lady Hornets. In her seven innings in the circle, Bradford gave up four hits, two earned runs and struck out four in the 30 batters she faced.

Karia Beth Hall (3-11) took the loss for the Lady Lions. In her outing, Hall gave up 12 hits, and eight earned runs in six innings of work.

UAPB jumped out to a 1-0 lead with Moody scoring on a Taylor triple in the top of the first inning.

ALST tied the contest at 1-1 with Laura. Aguilar scoring on a Centeno ground out to the first baseman in the bottom of the first inning.

The Lady Hornets increased their lead to 7-1 with ALST plating five runs in the bottom of the second inning and one in the fourth.Â

UAPB cut ALST's lead to 7-2 with Aguilar scoring on an Akins single in the top of the fifth inning.

ALST made the score 8-2 with Centeno homer to center field in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Lady Lions scored their final run of the contest in the top of the sixth inning with
Paige Garcia scoring on an Aguilar ground out to the second baseman.
