Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (Feb. 25) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team dropped a 9-6 decision to Western Illinois, here Saturday afternoon at Farris Field.
 
UAPB finished the contest with seven hits, whereas WIU recorded 12.
 
The Lady Lions was led by Paige Garcia with two hits.
 
WIU had four players to finish with two hits each in Nina Maggio, Meghan Henson, Brooke Stulga and Jasmine Lara.
 
Brooke Stulga (3-2) received the win for the Leathernecks.  She faced 34 batters in seven innings of work, allowing seven hits, three earned runs and striking out six in her time in the circle.
 
Kiara Saine (3-2) received the loss for UAPB.  She pitched one inning, allowing four hits and five earned runs in the 11 batters she faced.  In relief both Angelique Ramos and Karia Hall shared time in the circle.  Ramos pitched two innings, allowing four hits and two earn runs, whereas Hall pitched three innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs and striking out four in the 14 batters she faced.
 
UAPB grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning with the Lady Lions plating three runs on a WIU throwing error.
 
The Leathernecks plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-3 lead.
 
WIU increased their lead to 6-3 as they plated two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
 
UAPB cut WIU's lead to 6-5 in the top of the third inning on a Garcia homer over the centerfield wall.
 
WIU plated one run in the bottom of the third inning and two in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 9-5 lead into the seventh inning.
 
UAPB scored their final run of the contest on a Maria Aguilar double to left center scoring Graham for the 9-6 final.
