Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 12) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team dropped an 8-3 decision to Mississippi Valley State here Thursday afternoon at the She Brother Softball Complex in a 2016 Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament elimination game.

UAPB finished the contest with seven hits, whereas MVSU finished with eight.

Tonnay Hawkins led the Lady Lions from the plate with two hits in four at-bats and scoring two runs.

Kailyn Dunn had the hot bat for MVSU as he went a perfect four-for-four from the plate, scoring one run and driving in two.

Rebekah Clin (10-16) received the win for the Devilettes. She pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs in the 34 batters she faced.

Hailey Forbes (4-15) received the loss for the Lady Lions. She gave up two hits, four earned runs and striking out one in one inning of work.

Karia Hall and Brianna Yong both toed the rubber for the Lady Lions. Hall pitched three innings, allowing three hits, one earned runs and striking out one in the 15 batters she faced. Young struck out two, gave up three hits and one earned run in three innings of work.

UAPB took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with Hawkins scoring on a
Paige Garcia fielder's choice.

In their half of the second inning, MVSU would score five runs one on hit and six base on balls to take a 5-1 lead.Â

MVSU made the score 8-1 with the Devilettes plating two runs in the fourth and one run in the seventh.

Both Garcia and Hawkins scored in the bottom of the seventh inning with Hawkins scoring on a
Makayla Hunter single. Garcia then would score on a
Maria Aguilar sacrifice fly to centerfield for the 8-3 finale.
