Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 8) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball fell to Prairie View A&M, 5-3 in game one of their three-game series, here Friday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.
 
UAPB finished the contest with eight hits, whereas PVAMU tallied seven.
 
Tonnay Hawkins led the Lady Lions from the plate with three hits in four at-bats and driving in two runs on the day.
 
PVAMU was paced by Briana Knowles, who went two-for-three from the plate, scoring two runs and driving in one on the day.
 
Ashley Higgins (3-7) received the win for the Lady Panthers, allowing eight hits, two earned runs and striking out four in seven innings of work.
 
Hailey Forbes (4-11) received the loss for UAPB.  She gave up seven hits, four earned runs and striking out four in seven innings of work.
 
PVAMU took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning with the Lady Panthers plating two runs in their half of the first and one run in the third. 
 
UAPB cut the PVAMU's lead to 3-2 with the Lady Lions scoring one run in the bottom of the fifth and another in the bottom of the sixth.  In the fifth Kayla Reap scored on Hawkins single to right field and Paige Garcia scored on a Forbes double to center field.
 
The Lady Panthers increased their lead to 5-2 in the top of the seventh inning on a Laurisa Hernandez two-run shot to left field.
 
UAPB scored one more run in the top of the seventh inning with Hawkins driving in her second run of the day on a single scoring Alexandria Taylor.

The Lady Lions will conclude their three-game series with PVAMU on tomorrow, Saturday, April 9 in a 11 a.m. doubleheader at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.
