Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 9) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball split a doubleheader with Prairie View A&M, here Saturday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.

The Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Lions, 18-5 in game one and in game two, UAPB pulled out a 3-2 over PVAMU.

In game one, UAPB belted out 13 hits, whereas PVAMU finished with 19.Â

UAPB had five Lady Lions to finish with two hits apiece in
Alexandria Taylor,
Maria Aguilar,
Paige Garcia,
Sydney Crossett and
Kayla Reap.

Daneisha Hinton and Amanda Ford led the Lady Panthers from the plate with hits apiece.

Monica Cartwright (6-3) received the win for PVAMU. She gave up 13 hits, five earned runs and struck out two in six innings of work.Â

Karia Hall received the loss for UAPB (2-6). Hall pitched four and two-third innings, allowing 11 hits, six earned runs and striking out three in the 27 batters she faced

PVAMU scored a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead on a Kylar Ward-Flowers single scoring Shelby Williams.

UAPB tied the contest at 1-1 in the bottom of the first with a
Maria Aguilar double to centerfield scoring
Delya Jackson.

The Lady Lions built a 5-1 lead with UAPB scoring one run in the bottom of the second, one in the bottom of the third, and two in the bottom of the fourth.

PVAMU regained in their half of the fifth inning with the Lady Panthers scoring six runs in the inning to take a 7-5 lead. The Lady Panthers then scored 11 runs in the top of the sixth for the 18-5 win.

In game two, UAPB finished the contest with eight hits, whereas PVAMU recorded five.
Both Taylor and Hawkins finished with two hit apiece to lead the Lady Lions.

PVAMU had five players to finish with one hit apiece.

Maykala Hunter (4-3) received the win for the Lady Lions. She went the distance, allowing five hits, one earned run and striking out five in seven innings of play.

Ashley Higgins (3-8) took the loss for the Lady Panthers. She gave up eight hits, three earned runs and struck out four in six innings of work.

PVAMU once again jumped out to a 1-0 lead with Williams scoring on a UAPB throwing error.

The Lady Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning with Williams scoring her second run of the day on a Laurisa Hernandez ground out to the shortstop.

UAPB cut PVAMU's lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning with
Kayla Reap scoring on an Aguilar single.

The Lady Lions plated two runs in their half of the fifth inning with Taylor scoring on an Aguilar single and Hawkins scoring on a Hunter ground out to the shortstop for the 3-2 win.
