UAPB BOUNCES BACK TO WIN GAME TWO, 8-2 OVER JACKSON STATE

Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (March 30) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team split a doubleheader with Jackson State here Wednesday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.
 
JSU defeated UAPB, 14-4 in game one, whereas the Lady Lions bounced back in game two defeating the Lady Tigers 8-2 in five innings.  The second contest ended in the bottom of the fifth inning due to lighting in the area.
 
In game one, UAPB finished the contest with nine hits, while JSU tallied 14.
 
The Lady Lions had three players to finish with two hits each in Tonnay Hawkins, Maria Aguilar and Alexsis Downing.
 
JSU was paced by Alexis Hansard with three hits.
 
Sierra Abbott (1-5) received the win for the Lady Tigers.  She went the distance as she pitched seven innings, allowing nine hits, four earned runs and striking out five in the 34 batters she faced.
 
Hailey Forbes (4-8) received the loss for the Lady Lions.  Forbes pitched six innings, allowing seven hits, two earned runs and striking out five in the 27 batters she faced.
 
UAPB took the a 2-0 lead after scoring one run in the bottom of the second inning and one in the bottom of the third.   Karia Hall scored on JSU scoring error in the second inning and a Crossett homer in the bottom of the third inning.
 
JSU took a 3-2 lead with the Lady Tigers plating a one run in the top of the fifth inning and two runs in the top of the sixth inning.
 
The Lady Tigers then scored 11 runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 14-2 lead.
 
UAPB scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning with Paige Garcia scoring on a wild pitch and Hawking scoring on a Garcia single to left field.
 
In the second game, UAPB finished the contest with nine hits, while JSU finished with seven.
 
UAPB was led by Hawkins and Karia Hall from the plate as they both finished with two hits each.
 
JSU has seven players to finish with one hit each.
 
Makayla Hunter (3-2) picked up the win for the Lady Lions.   She allowed seven hits, one earned runs and struck two in five innings of work.
 
Sybil Lozano (1-5) received the loss for the Lady Tigers, allowing nine hits, six earned runs and striking out two in four innings of work.
 
UAPB jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with Hawkins scoring on a Maria Aguilar ground out to the short stop. 
 
The Lady Lions plated two more runs in the bottom of second inning with Monique Nikolao scoring on a JSU error and Hawkins scoring on an Aguilar single up the middle, giving the Lady Lions a 3-0 lead.
 
JSU plated one run in their half of the third inning with A.J. Hervey scoring on a Sarah Gore single.
 
UAPB added another run in the bottom of the third inning with Nikolao scoring on a JSU fielding error.
 
JSU scored one more run in the top of the fifth inning, while UAPB plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, giving the Lady Lions the 8-2 win.
