ITTA BENA, Miss. (March 19) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team scored 30 runs in a doubleheader against Mississippi Valley State to defeat the Devilettes, 13-5 in game one and 17-14 in game two in eight innings, here Saturday afternoon at the MVSU Softball Field.

In game one, UAPB belted out 13 hits, whereas MVSU finished with eight.

Tonnay Hawkins led the Lady Lions from the plate as she finished the contest with three hits, scoring two runs and driving in two runs on the day.

Both Annaisa Sanc and Holly Brown finished with two hits each to lead the Devilettes.
Â
Karia Hall (2-2) received the win for UAPB as she went the distance pitching seven innings, allowing eight hits, four earned runs and striking out five in the 32 batters she faced.

Monica River (1-2) received the loss for MVSU as she gave up two hits, and seven earned runs in one-third inning of work. Rebekah Clan came in to relieve River with Clin finishing the contest pitching six and two-third innings, allowing six earned runs and striking out five in the 36 batters she faced.

UAPB scoring seven runs in their half of the first, three in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.

MVSU scored two runs in their half the second, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.

In game two, UAPB finished the contest with 21 hits with
Sydney Crossett,
Alexandria Taylor,
Monique Nikolao and
Kayla Reap finishing with three hits each to lead the Lady Lions.

MVSU finished the contest with 11 hits with Deja Talton, Kailyn Dunn, and Ane Pahulu finished with two hits each to lead the Devilettes.

UAPB scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead with Hawking scoring on a MVSU error, followed by a Hunter double scoring both Garcia and Aguilar.  Then Hunter would score on a Taylor single.Â

MVSU cut UAPB's lead to 4-1 as Gage scored on an Ikeyia Alexa sacrifice fly to center field.

The Lady Lions increased their lead to 6-1 in the top of the second inning with both Reap and Hunter scoring on a MVSU error.

The Devilettes took the lead in the bottom of the second inning as they plated eight runs to take a 9-6 lead.

UAPB pushed across one run in the top of the third inning with Crossett scoring on a Nikolao double, cutting MVSU's leads to 9-7.

MVSU added to their lead in their half of the third inning as they scored two runs to take an 11-7 lead.

The Lady Lions would come alive in the top of the fifth inning as they scored six runs on five hits to take a 13-11 lead.

UAPB made the score 14-11 as they scored one run in top of the sixth inning with Crossett scoring on a Nikolao scoring on a single up middle.Â

MVSU tied the contest at 14-14 to send it into extra innings with the Devilettes scoring one run in the bottom of the sixth inning and two in the bottom of the seventh inning.Â

In their half of the eighth inning, the Lady Lions would plate three runs with Hall scoring on a Crossett double. The Crossett would score on a Taylor followed by a Reap fielder's choice scoring Taylor.

In their half of the eighth inning, the UAPB defense would hold the MVSU scoreless as the Devilettes went one-two-three, giving the Lady Lions the 17-14 win.
