UAPB RALLIES IN GAME TWO TO COMPLETE SWEEP OF JARVIS CHRISTIAN

Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (March 16) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team picked up a pair of wins today over Jarvis Christian College today with the Lady Lions winning game one 11-3 and a 3-2 in a come from behind win in game two, here Wednesday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little Complex.
 
In the first contest, UAPB belted out 15 hits, while JCC finished with six.
 
Both Karia Hall and Alexsis Downing finished with three hits apiece to lead the Lady Lions, while Lady Bulldogs had seven players to finish with one hit each.
 
Karia Hall (1-2) picked up the win for the Lady Lions as she pitched six innings, along three hits and three earned runs in the 25 batters she faced.
 
Brenda Medina (0-1) received the loss for the Lady Bulldogs with her pitching four innings, allowing 12 hits and seven earned runs in the 29 batters she faced.
 
UAPB jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with Kayla Reap scoring on a wild pitch and Maria Aguilar scoring on a Hall sacrifice fly to center field.
 
The Lady Lions added to their lead in the bottom of the second inning on a Reap single scoring Downing.
 
JCC tied the contest at 3-3 as they scored three runs in the top of the third inning.
 
UAPB reclaimed the led in the bottom of the third inning on a Downing single up the middle scoring Hall.
 
The Lady Lions plated six runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the sixth to invoke the eight-run rule, after five innings of play.
 
In game two, UAPB finished the contest with eight hits, while JCC tallied five.
 
Hall once again had the hot bat for the Lady Lions as she finished with two hits in the second contest, while the Lady Bulldogs had five players to finish with one hit each.
 
Hailey Forbes (3-6) received the win for UAPB as she pitched three innings, allowing one hit and striking out two in the 11 batters she faced.  Brianna Young made the start for the Lady Lions as she pitched four innings, allowing four hits, one earned runs and striking out three in the 16 batters she faced.
 
Crystal Fagnana (3-7) received the loss for the JCC as she pitched six innings, allowing eight hits, three earned runs and striking out two in the 25 batters she faced.
 
JCC took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning with the Lady Bulldogs scoring one run in the top of the first and one in their half of the fifth inning.
 
UAPB plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Makayla Hunter two-run single scoring both Alexander Taylor and Maria Aguilar.  Then Delya Jackson would scoring a Hall single up the middle to give the Lady Lions the 3-0 win.
