Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 10) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team dropped a 10-5 decision to Southern University, here Friday night at Watson Chapel Softball Field.
UAPB finished the contest with six hits, while SU tallied eight.
Alicia Barajas led the Jaguars from the plate with four hits, while both
Tiressa Jacobs and
Jasmine Hardwrick finished with two hits each to lead the Lady Lions.
Kayleigh Thomas (4-2) received the win for SU, allowing six hits, one earned runs and striking out six in seven innings of work.
Shanice Murry (2-8) received the loss for UAPB, allowing six seven hits, five earned runs and striking out four in six innings of work.
UAPB grabbed the early lead in the bottom of the first innings with both Jacobs and Page Garcia scoring on a
Monique Nikolao single to left field, followed a
Jasmine Hardwrick two-run homer, giving the Lady Lions a 4-0 lead.
SU cut UAPB's lead to 4-2 in the top of the third inning with a Kiara Suttles homer to center field and with Jade Luke scoring on a Bailey Rankin single up the middle.
The Jaguars added one more run in the top of the fourth inning to cut UAPB's lead to 4-3 with Thomas scoring on a bases loaded walk.
SU took the lead in the top of the sixth inning as the Jaguars scored four runs in the inning to take a 7-4 lead.
Hardwrick collected her second RBI of the contest as Jacobs scored on her single to the short stop, cutting SU's lead to 7-5.
SU added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning for the 10-5 finale.
