Box Score RUSTON, La. (Feb. 7) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team was held hitless as the Louisiana Tech pitching staff almost pitched a perfect game, here Saturday morning at the Louisiana Tech Softball Complex.
LTU pitching staff faced 26 batters in the contest as they went two over for a perfect game. In softball for a perfect game a pitcher must face 24 batters.
LTU finished the contest with eight hits as Tori Charters went a perfect two-for-two from the plate, while scoring one run and driving in one run.
Carolina Sanchez (1-0) picked the win for the Techsters as she pitched six and one-third innings not allowing a hit, walking three and striking out eight batters in the 23 batters she faced, while Pauline Tufi pitched two-third innings in relief, giving up one walk and striking out two in the three batters she faced.
Makayla Hunter (0-1) received the loss for the Lady Lions as she pitched five innings, allowing eight hits, four earned runs and striking out one in the 24 batters she faced, while
Shanice Murry pitched one inning in relief, allowing one earned run and one walk in the four batters she faced.
LTU plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning and scored one run in their half of the second, fourth and sixth inning.
UAPB broke up the perfect game in the top of the fourth inning as
Tiressa Jacobs reached first base via hit-by-pitch.
