ABILENE CHRISTIAN DOUBLES UP UAPB, 14-7

Box Score RUSTON, La. (Feb. 8 ) - Abilene Christian scored nine run in the top of the first to lift them past the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball Team, 14-7 here Saturday morning at the Louisiana Tech Softball Complex.
 
In the contest both teams combined to strand 18 runner on the base paths with ACU stranding a game high 13, while UAPB left five. 
 
Both teams combined for 22 total hits and eight errors with UAPB garnering six hits and committing six errors, while ACU punched a game high 16 hits and committed two errors.  In addition, both teams also combined for four doubles and two homers.
 
Julie Montoya (1-2) picked up the win for ACU as she pitched five innings, allowing five hits,  six earned runs and striking out two in the26 batters she faced.  Emily Seidel pitched two innings in the circle and allowing just one hit for the Wildcats.
 
Makayla Hunter (0-2) received the loss for the Lady Lions  as she pitched two-third innings and allowing one earned run in the 11 batters she faced.  Hailey Forbes pitched six and one-third inning in relief, allowing 10 hits, three earned runs and striking out three in the 37 batters she faced.
 
In the top of the first innings, the Wildcats took advantage of two UAPB errors, seven hits to scored nine runs in the inning.
 
The Lady Lions pushed three runs in their half of the first with Tonnay Hawkins scoring on a Hardwrick single to left field, followed by back-to-back bases loads walks scoring both Paige Garcia and Tiressa Jacobs, cutting ACU's lead to 9-3.
 
UAPB plated three more runs in the bottom of the second inning on a Harwrick three-run homer, cutting the Wildcats' lead to 9-6.
 
ACU increased their lead in the top of the third inning  as Holly Neese scored on a UAPB error and  Holly Vanckhoven double to left center scoring both Kaleigh Singleton and Kayleight Lightsey, making the score 12-6 in favor of the Wildcats.
 
The Lady Lions plated their final run of the contest on a ACU wild pitch scoring Hardwrick, to make the score 12-7.
 
ACU added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning for the 14-7 finale.
