Box Score RUSTON, La. (Feb. 6) - In their season opener the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team dropped a 8-2 decision to the University of Louisiana-Monroe in their first game of the Louisiana Tech Invitational, here Friday evening at the Louisiana Tech Softball Complex.
UAPB outhit the ULM, 8-6 as the Lady Lions had three hitters finish with two hits each in
Tonnay Hawkins,
Tiressa Jacobs and Page Garcia, while both Cheyanne Lyon and Faith Bohack finished with three hits each to lead the Warhawks.
Hailey Forbes (0-1) received the loss for the Lady Lions as she pitched four innings, allowing five hits, eight earned runs and striking out two in the 24 batters she faced, while
Makayla Hunter pitched two innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out one in the seven batters she faced.
Paige Porter (1-0) picked up the win for the Warhawks as she pitched five innings, allowing six hits, one earned run and striking out four in the 19 batters she faced, while Haylie Wilson saw two innings of relief, allowing two hits, one earned run and striking out one in the nine batters she faced.
ULM took the early 2-0 lead as the plated two runs in the top of the bottom of the second as Lyon scored on a Sidney Coy single, followed by a Mackenzie Miller ground out to first scoring Bohack.
In the top of the third innings the Lady Lions cut the Warhawks' lead to 2-1 on a Jacobs double to left center scoring
Maria Aguilar.
In their half of the third, ULM increase their lead to 5-1 as both Lyon and Amye Barres scored on a Garcia single, followed by a Coy single scoring Bohack.
The Warhawks plated three more runs in their half of the fifth inning, giving ULM an 8-1 lead.
UAPB scored their final fun of the contest in the top of the sixth inning as Jacobs scored on a Garcia double to right field for the 8-2 finale.
