Softball: Lady Lions splits doubleheader with Ouachita Baptist

BENTON, Ark. (April 2)  - The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Softball team split a doubleheader against Ouachita Baptist with the Panthers winnings game one, 3-0 and the Lady Lions bouncing back to win game two, 2-0, here Wednesday afternoon at Panther Stadium.
 
In game one, UAPB tallied two hits with Paige Garcia going two-for-three from the plate to lead the Lady Lions, while OBU garnered a team high seven hits with Kailey Madden going two-for-four from the plate to lead the Panthers.
 
Abbie Frakes (1-0) received the win for OBU as she pitched seven innings, allowing two hit and striking out two in the 25 batters she faced, while Lacie Sutterfield (5-12) received the loss for UAPB as she gave up seven hits, three earned runs and striking out six in her seven innings in the circle for the Lady Lions.
 
Daniella Brantley, who led off the inning with a triple, gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning as she scored on a Kayley Willingham sacrifice bunt.
 
OBU added to their lead in top of the third as Parrish Reed scored on a Madden double, making the score 2-0 in favor of the Panthers.
 
The Panthers plated their final run in the top of the sixth inning for the 3-0 win.
 
In game two, the Lady Lions tallied six hits, while the Panthers garnered five.
 
UAPB (6-25) was led by Kelsey Ridgeway, who finished the contest with two hits in three at-bats.
 
OBU (12-24) was paced by Reed, who recorded two hits in three at-bats to lead the Panthers.
 
Alexsis McCain (1-8) picked up the win for UAPB as she pitched seven innings, allowing five hits, one earned runs and striking out one in the 28 batters she faced, while Amber Oxford (0-1) received the loss for OBU as she pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs and striking out one in the 25 batters she faced.
 
Paige Garcia homer in the top of the fourth innings, gave the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead.
 
In the top of the fifth inning, Sutterfield increased UAPB's lead to 2-0 as she scored on an OSU infielder's error.
 
Kate Lacina would score the Panthers' only run in the bottom of the fifth inning as she scored on a Reed single, for the 2-1 finale.
