PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 11) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team snapped their three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over Grambling State, here Friday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.
UAPB (7-28, 3-6 SWAC) tallied a team high six hits with
Kendra Linn leading the Lady Lions from the plate with two hits in three at-bats.
GSU (9-15, 4-7 SWAC) recorded two hits in the contest with Alyssa Fontillas and Morgan Butler finished with one hit apiece for the Lady Tigers.
Lacie Sutterfield (6-14) picked up the win for the Lady Lions as she pitched four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven, while
Alexsis McCain picked up her first save of the season as she pitched three innings, allowing four walks and striking out one in the 15 batters she faced.
Angela Perez (7-6) received the loss for the Lady Tigers as she pitched six innings allowing six hits, three earned runs and striking out four in the 25 batters she faced.
Kelsey Ridgeway would score UAPB's first run of the game on a GSU's infielder error, giving the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Tiressa Jacobs made the score 4-0 in favor of UAPB with a three-run blast in the bottom of the third inning.
A Briana Carmouche would score the Lady Tigers only run on a Morgan Butler sacrifice fly to center field for the 4-1 finale.
The Lady Lions will return to action on Saturday, April 12 as they will conclude their three-game series with Grambling State in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
