UAPB looks to bounce back against Grambling State this weekend

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (April 10)  - The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Softball Team will play Grambling State in three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division series with a single game slated for Friday, April 11 at 3 p.m. and will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m., at the Torii Hunter Baseball/Softball and Little League Complex.

UAPB comes into the weekend series with a 6-28 record overall and 2-6 in conference play.  The Lady Lions are currently tied for fourth place in the SWAC West with Prairie View A&M.  UAPB currently in on a three-game losing streak.

Lacie Sutterfield, a 5-8 senior pitcher from Coweta, Okla., will be the probable starter for the Lady Lions in game one as she is currently 5-14 on the season with a 5.91 ERA.  Sutterfield has made 19 appearances in the circle for UAPB as she pitched 100.2 innings, allowing 146 hits, 85 earned runs and striking out 66 batters.

Paige Garcia, a 5-6 freshman infielder from Fort Worth, Texas currently has the hot bat for the Lady Lions.  She is currently batting .324 with 33 hits in 102 at-bats to go with five doubles and five homers on the season.

GSU comes into the series with a 9-14 record and 4-6 in conference play and currently sits in third place in the conference standings.

Angela Perez will be the Lady Tigers probable starter in game one as she is currently 7-5 on the season with a 2.45 ERA.  Perez has made 14 appearances in the circle for GSU as she has tallied 83.0 innings pitched, allowing 84 hits and striking out 80.

Bridgette Simmons, a 5-4 junior infielder from Clute, Texas has seen action in 11 games to garner a .438 batting average with 14 hits in 32 at-bats to go along with four doubles and nine RBIs.
