Tennessee State blanks UAPB, 8-0
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 9) – The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff dropped their final game of the Tiger Invitational as Tennessee State blanked the Lady Lions, 8-0 here Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field.
UAPB (3-15) finished the contest with one hit with
Tiressa Jacobs garnering the Lady Lions only hit, while TSU (12-15) collected 10 hits in the contest with three Lady Tigers finishing with two hits each.
Shea Morris (7-6) picked up the win for TSU as she pitched five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out seven in the 20 batters she faced, while
Lacie Sutterfield (3-8) received the loss for UAPB as she gave up eight hits, four earned runs and striking out three in four innings of work.
TSU would plate four runs in the bottom of the fourth and four runs in the bottom of the fifth to invoke the eight-run mercy rule for the 8-0 win.
UAPB will return to action on Friday, March 14 as they will host the University of Memphis in a doubleheader for their home opener at the Torii Hunter Little League Softball/Baseball Complex in a 1 p.m. start.
