LONGVIEW, Texas (March 22) - Alabama State used a seven run third to propel them to a 10-3 win over the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Softball team, here Saturday afternoon at Lear Field in their third game of the 2014 Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Round Up.
UAPB (4-21, 1-2 SWAC) finished the contest with six hits with six batters garnering a hit each for Lady Lions.

ALST (7-15, 2-1 SWAC) recorded a game high 13 hit with both Aleesa Yanez and Jasmine Romero finishing with three hits each to lead the Lady Hornets.

Shantelle Smith (1-4) got the win for the Lady Hornets as she pitched three innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs and striking out one in the 16 batters she faced, while
Alexsis McCain (1-6) received the loss as she gave up seven hits, and six earned runs in the two and one-third innings pitched.

ALST jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first with a three-run blast by Meagan Dixon.

UAPB cut the ALST's lead to 3-1 in their half of the first inning as Emilee Gywn scored on a
Tiressa Jacobs' fielder's choice.

ALST would plate seven runs in the top of the third inning to take a 10-1 lead into the bottom of the third inning.
UAPB would score their final two runs of the contest in the bottom of the third inning as
Paige Garcia scored on
Kendra Linn bases load walk, followed by a
Jasmine Hardwrick sacrifice fly to center field scoring Jacobs for the 10-3 finale.
