Decatur, Ala- the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions opened the 2013 SWAC Softball Championships against the Alabama State University Lady Hornets at the Wilson Morgan Park.

Both squads started the first two innings strong with the score knotted at zero. The Lady Hornets got on the board first in the third, with two runs on two hits, to take a 2-0 lead; which would hold throughout for today's final.

Heather Leigh, Tiressa Jacobs and Alexis McCain registered hits for the Lady Lions. Lacie Sutterfield suffered the loss, while striking out four.
Stephanie Hernandez was 3-for-3 for the Lady Hornets on the day.

The Lady Lions will now have to fight out of the loser's bracket for a shot at this year's crown. UAPB will face the loser from the Jackson State/ Grambling State match-up tomorrow at 1PM.
