Lady Lions Fall in Home Opener

Pine Bluff, Ark- Today in softball action at the Torri Hunter softball complex, first year head coach Tiffany Ansley and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions hosted the Mustangs of Central Baptist College in doubleheader home opening action.

In game one, CBC struck first as Christen Kirchner came around on a Miranda Manchester single.  The Mustangs would add two more runs in the top of the third, before UAPB could their first two runs of the contest. Third baseman Nikole Frazier and second baseman Emille Gywn would come home for the Lady Lions in the bottom half of third for a 3-2 ballgame.

CBC tacked on one more run in the fourth, to give the game its final, 4-2.

In the second half of the doubleheader, the Mustangs got out to an early lead, 8-0, in the first inning. The Lady Lions weren't able to find their groove in second contest, while CBC would add five more runs to their total bring the game's final of 13-0. UAPB's Heather Leigh went 2-for-3 at the plate in game 2.

Up next for the Lady Lions is the SWAC Round-up. The Lady Lions will travel to Longview, TX, to face opponents from the SWAC's Eastern Division in tournament style play.  The first game on tap for the Lady Lions is Friday afternoon match-up against Alcorn State University. First pitch is set for 4:00 PM.
