PINE BLUFF, AR -- This past week, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's and women's basketball teams showcased their new Adidas HBE (Honoring Black Excellence) uniforms in the Saturday doubleheader against Mississippi Valley State University.

HBE or Honoring Black Excellence is an Adidas Initiative platform to educate and inspire sports fans worldwide about the black culture, black excellence, what it is, and the history behind it.

The threads for the uniform are black with the letters "UAPB" with flowers stitched across the front with a message to give black individuals their flowers.

The jersey would serve as the icing on the cake for both Lady Lion and Golden Lion basketball teams in their matchup against Mississippi Valley State.

Telling the story through the uniform, the teams would allow their game to do the talking with both teams capturing wins over MVSU. UAPB's Zaay Green tallied a triple-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, along with Maya Peat's double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Tyeisha Juhan scored 17 points in the 78-64 HBE debut.

Shawn Williams told the story of black excellence and also created a new chapter after recording a new career-high of 34 points, knocking down eight three-pointers followed by Kylen Milton's 23 points and four steals, showing lots of emotion on the court and Dequan Morris' bouncy 20 points and seven rebounds in their 93-79 win over Mississippi Valley in their HBE uniforms.

"The partnership with HBE gives us the chance to showcase the greatness we have at our HBCUs, specifically UAPB and our fantastic alumni," Associate AD for Strategic Communications said Cameo Stokes. "This is great for our students, alumni, and fanbase, and we thank Adidas for this partnership and hope to shed lots of light on the positive things we have at our HBCUs and here at Arkansas-Pine Bluff."
