No stranger to UAPB, Cameo Stokes leads the Strategic Communications Department, which serves all 14 Golden Lions athletic programs. A key member of the department’s senior leadership team, Stokes currently serves as the primary media contact for football, softball, and men’s basketball.
Stokes has spent more than six years as Assistant Director of Strategic Communications at UAPB, where he served as the primary contact for men’s and women’s tennis, track & field, cross country, soccer, softball, volleyball, and secondary contact for both men’s and women’s basketball. He also supported media coverage for baseball and football and took on various responsibilities vital to the department’s day-to-day success.
Throughout his tenure, Stokes has played a pivotal role in strengthening UAPB Athletics’ connection to the Jefferson County community and the university’s alumni network. He has expanded the department’s digital presence through enhanced social media strategy, engaging multimedia initiatives such as Golden Lions Spotlight, and spearheading the development and maintenance of the UAPB Athletics mobile app. He was also instrumental in launching and modernizing the official athletics website.
In his current role, Stokes oversees all areas of communications, marketing, and promotions, including the creation of the Golden Lion Sports Network and assisting with corporate sponsorship development. His responsibilities include producing press releases, game previews and recaps, managing media relations, overseeing team promotional materials and scheduling graphics, and directing game-day operations. He supervises live stats, streaming, and media coverage across all UAPB athletic events.
Among his career highlights, Stokes led the year-long promotional campaign for offensive lineman Terron Armstead, who became the highest NFL Draft selection in school history when the New Orleans Saints selected him in the third round in 2013. He also played a vital role in promoting former Golden Lion punter Jamie Gillan, who set multiple special teams records at UAPB before signing with the Cleveland Browns and later joining the New York Giants.
A graduate of Arkansas Baptist College, Stokes remains actively involved in community service across Jefferson and Pulaski counties. He has served as President of the Sr. Babe Ruth Baseball Board, is a committee member for the Jefferson County Youth Football League, and has mentored youth through his advisory role with the Little Rock Kappa League Mentoree Program.
