Baton Rouge, LA - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team is set to take on Southern U. Lady for a three-game series at the Lady Jaguars Field. The teams will play a today doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m., followed by game two. The series finale is set to start at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.  The game was original scheduled for last weekend but was postponed due to inclement weather in the area. 

This is the first meeting between both squads this season and one of the three regular conference games for UAPB before the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament in May.

The Lady Lions are back in conference play after two weeks after a tough series loss in their most recent contest against North Texas.  


Senior Shanice Akins leads the Lady Lions at the plate, with a batting average of .278, and is also sixth overall in hitting in SWAC standings. Felicia Drake is second on the team batting .275. 

The Lady Jags is returning after a recent 2-1 series road win over Grambling St. The Lady Jags is led by Lauren Parks who leads the team at the plate batting .340.
