#UAPBSoftball Opens SWAC Play With Three-Game Road Series at Alcorn St.

Pine Bluff, Ark.-The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team heads south for their first conference game of the season against Alcorn St. Lady Braves this weekend in a three-game series at Sports Force Park in Vicksburg, MS. Friday, March 19 at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Saturday, March 20 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The Lady Lions are looking forward to conference play after dropping a pair of non-conference games against UT-Martin.

"We finished up our pre-season not where we wanted, but we saw major improvements in our team against some quality opponents," said head coach Michael Bumpers.

Junior Felicia Drakes leads UAPB at the plate, batting .263, followed by sophomore Sydney Green, who leads the team with one home run.

"As we head into conference play, I'm confident that if we stay healthy the tables will turn," said Bumpers.

The Lady Braves (2-9) is coming off an 8-3 loss to Ball State, led by Simone McKinney at the plate batting .333.
