The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team is heading to Conway, Arkansas, competing in a three-day tournament at the UCA Michelle Short Memorial Classic beginning on Thursday, February 26th, at UCA Farris Softball Complex. The Lady Lions are competing for the first time this season due to delays in their schedule and inclement weather.
"We are excited and ready to compete after having some time off unexpectedly," said UAPB head coach Michael Bumpers. "The ladies working hard during the weeks leading up to our first tournament so that we are prepared for the season despite delays."
UAPB will take on Nebraska-Omaha Thursday at 2 p.m. in game one doubleheader at the UCA Farris Softball Complex. Following that game, the ladies will take on Western Illinois at 4.p.m.
On Friday, the Lady Lions take on Nebraska-Omaha at 12:15 p.m. and Western Illinois at 4:45 p.m. UAPB will wrap up the tournament Saturday, when they take on the host team UCA at 2:30 p.m.
"Our goal this weekend is to see where we are as a team and work out some of the anxiety built up to compete." said Coach Bumpers.
