#UAPBBasketball To Face Texas Southern In Thursday Doubleheader

HOUSTON – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's and men's basketball teams will continue Southwestern Athletic Conference play Thursday at Texas Southern.

Women's basketball erased an eight-point deficit in the final minute to force overtime before losing to Prairie View 79-71 Tuesday night. Trasity Totten, who scored a career-high 23 points, scored with 0.8 seconds to play to force overtime and complete a 10-2 run to end regulation.

Maya Peat recorded her second career double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, career highs in both categories.

Texas Southern is coming off a 78-66 home win over Mississippi Valley Tuesday night. Ataiya Bridges leads the Tigers in scoring at 15.3 points per game (sixth in SWAC).

On the men's side, the Golden Lion men will look to bounce back after a 73-56 loss at Prairie View. The Golden Lions had two players score in double figures, led by Nicholas Jones, who had 11 points and four assists, and Markedric Bell score 10 points with nine rebounds.

After a slow start, UAPB rallied against the two-time defending SWAC regular season champion Panthers. The Golden Lions cut a 17-point deficit to seven early in the second half, before PVAMU pushed the margin back to double figures for the remainder of the game.

Texas Southern is coming off an 82-45 home win over Mississippi Valley Tuesday night. Michael Weathers leads TSU in scoring at 14.1 ppg (fifth in SWAC).
