#UAPBMensHoops To Complete Two-Game Homestand Against Prairie View A&M

1/24/2021 11:45:00 AM

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team will look to close a brief two-game homestand with a Monday night victory against Prairie View A&M in the H.O. Clemmons Arena.

Prior to the 6 p.m. tipoff, the UAPB Sports Network broadcast begins at 5:45 p.m. on 99.3 FM The Beat, online at uapblionsroar.com/live and on the UAPB Athletics App.

The Golden Lions (3-11 overall, 2-3 SWAC) nearly erased a 20-point second-half deficit, as they cut the margin to six before falling to Texas Southern 66-57 Saturday night. Joshuwan Johnson led UAPB in scoring with 14 points and was one of three Golden Lions in double figures.

Shaun Doss Jr. tacked on 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists and Markedric Bell scored 10 points with two steals and two blocks.

The Golden Lions led 17-7 early before Texas Southern closed with a late half run to take the halftime lead. After falling behind big in the second half, UAPB staged a furious comeback, cutting the deficit to 61-55 on a pair of free throws by Bell with less than two minutes to play but could get no closer.

Prairie View A&M (4-4, 3-0), the two-time defending SWAC regular season champion, has opened league play with home wins over Texas Southern (73-67) and Grambling (59-50) and a Saturday road win at Mississippi Valley (77-31). Cam Mack leads three Panthers averaging in double figures at 14.4 ppg.
