The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team returns to action over the weekend Feb 14-16 as the Lady Lions head to Lady Demons Classic hosted by Northwestern St. in Natchitoches, La. 

UAPB will take on Northwestern St. Friday in game one of a doubleheader at 2:30 p.m. and game two at 5 p.m. against Murray St.  The Lady Lions will take on Northwestern St. on day two Sat. at 11 a.m. and Murray St. at 4 p.m.  UAPB will wrap up the tournament Sunday against Murray St. at 12:30 p.m.

Senior Shanice Akins, who was recently named preseason All-SWAC, led the Lady Lions starting all five games in the McNeese St. Tournament, batting .364, with two doubles, three RBIs, and one stolen base.   Freshman Samaria Jackson made her debut with her first collegiate home run against North Texas.  Jackson batted .364 with four hits, two doubles, three runs and four RBIs.
