WACO, Texas -- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team will play its final non-conference game Monday in a 7 p.m. game at #2-ranked Baylor.
The game will be video streamed on ESPN+.
Monday's game will be the first for the Golden Lions since last Tuesday, an 81-56 loss at North Texas.
Markedric Bell and
Dequan Morris each scored 14 points, and
Jalen Lynn scored 11. Shaun Doss scored eight points and had a career-high 10 rebounds in the contest.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with four ties and six lead changes. Bell (12) and Lynn (nine) combined for 21 points as the Golden Lions trailed only 36-32 at halftime. However, in the second half, UAPB shot just nine of 26 from the field (35 percent), while North Texas got hot, shooting 61 percent from the field in outscoring the Golden Lions 45-24.
Doss ranks fourth in the SWAC in scoring at 15.8 points per game and is the only UAPB player averaging in double figures in scoring.
The second-ranked Bears (5-0) have scored 82 or more points in every game this season, including a 100-69 conference win over Kansas St. Saturday. MaCio Teague leads five players in double figures, averaging 15.8 ppg, just ahead of teammates Adam Flagler (15.3 ppg) and Jared Butler (15.0 ppg). Davion Mitchell (14.0 ppg) and Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua (10.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg) round out the top scorers.
