#UAPBMensHoops To Face Tulane Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team will look for its second consecutive win Saturday in a 1 p.m. game at Tulane.

The UAPB Sports Network radio broadcast begins at 12:45 p.m. on 99.3 FM The Beat, online at uapblionsroar.com/live, and on the free UAPB Athletics app.  The game will also be video streamed for a fee at ESPN+.

The Golden Lions are coming off an 75-74 win at Arkansas State Wednesday night, with Joshuwan Johnson's free throw with 0.9 seconds remaining the difference in the game. In a game that was tied three times, UAPB never trailed in the game and withstood a pair of second-half rallies by the Red Wolves to earn the win in only the sixth meeting between the teams and first since 2005.

Shaun Doss Jr. continued his strong start to the season, posting his second straight game of 20 or more points and third of the season with 20 points along with five rebounds and three assists. Johnson added a season-high 16 points along with three rebounds and three assists. Nicholas Jones scored in double figures off the bench for the second straight game with 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Jones' scoring was part of season-high 26 point effort from the bench. Terrance Banyard returned from injury
to score eight points and add three rebounds, one steal, and two blocked shots. Robert Boyd scored a career-high five points, and Kshun Stokes added two.
 
UAPB (1-5) produced season-highs in points (75), made 3s (10), free throw percentage (88.2), steals (13), and blocks (six), tied for the most made FGs (25) and assists (10), and committed its fewest turnovers of the season (12).

The Golden Lions have played another tough non-conference schedule under head coach George Ivory, as Tulane (3-0) will be the sixth opponent UAPB has face which has a .500 record or better. The combined record of Golden Lion opponents including the Green Wave is 19-8 (.703 winning percentage).

Tulane has posted home wins over Lamar, Lipscomb, and Southern Miss. The Green Wave are the top defensive team in the American Athletic Conference, Defensively, the Green Wave ranks first in scoring (53.7) and FG% (34.0), 2nd in 3pt FG% (25.5), 4th in blocked shots (4.7 bpg).

Jordan Walker and Jaylen Forbes each average 13.0 ppg to lead the team Tulane in scoring.
