Softball Closes Out its Time at the North Texas Invitational

Denton, TX. –The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball ended its time in the North Texas Invitational, dropping the final two games to Creighton 9-0 and Seton Hall 7-2.

The Lady Lions could not get the offense going and also suffered four errors that helped contributed to the loss. The Bluejays took control of the game scoring three runs in the first two innings, UAPB (0-2) had three runners to reach base, but couldn't move them over to cut into the Creighton (4-5) lead. Juliana Dominguez (0-2) took the loss for UAPB.

In the final game of the Invitational, the Seton Hall (5-4) won the game in the bottom of the second inning, as they scored six runs against the Lady Lions to give them a large enough lead for the rest of the game.

Karia Hall (0-1) started the game and after the second inning Hall, along with teammate Juliana Dominguez was able to slow the Lady Pirates down through the remaining of the game.

Dominique Humphrey broke through for UAPB (0-3) in the top of the fourth inning, when she drove a hard line drive causing the third baseman to bobble the ball, scoring Faith Santa Cruz, who reached previously on an error and advancing to second and third on a walk and passed ball.

UAPB would add one more run, but it would not be enough in the comeback.

The Lady Lions will be back in action in a doubleheader Feb. 19 versus Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark. at 1:00 p.m.
