Box Score RUSTON, La. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions softball team struggled on the road and fell to Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters 9-1 in non-conference action at the
Louisiana Tech Softball Complex.
In the opening inning,
Shanice Akins generated a single up the middle which scored
Ta'Lyn Moody, who leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference in hits and is currently in second place in at bats. However, the Lady Lions would not score another run as Louisiana Tech answered back with two runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the second, then poured in four runs in the fifth inning to end the game with a run-rule.
Akins finished the game 1-for-2 with one RBI while fellow Lady Lion went 1-for-3 from the plate with one run scored.
UAPB pitcher
Angelique Ramos (5-10) was credited with the loss as she gave up four earned runs and five hits in 2.2 innings while teammate
Karia Hall came in for relief and fanned two batters, gave up three earned runs and four hits in 1.2 innings of work.
Lady Techsters pitcher Erin McDonald picked up the victory as she struck out five batters and gave up one run in four innings pitched.
UAPB (13-24, 8-5 SWAC) returns to action on Friday, April 20 as it hosts conference opponent Prairie View A&M in a three-game series. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at the Torii Hunter Softball Complex.
