Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (March 24) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Softball team pulled out a pair of victories in dramatic fashion with the Lady Lions defeating Alcorn State, 9-8 in extra innings in game one and held on for a 6-4 win in game two, here Friday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.
 
In game one, UAPB finished the contest with 16 hits, whereas ASU tallied 11.
 
Tonnay Hawkins finished with a team high four hits, followed by both Ta'Lyn Moody and Alexandria Taylor with three hits apiece to lead the Lady Lions from the plate.
 
 Both Sametria Collins and Taylor Hughes finished with two hits apiece to lead the Lady Braves.
 
Karia Hall (4-12) received the win for the Lady Lions.  She gave up 10 hits, three earned runs and struck out five in five and two-third innings of work.  In addition, Angelique Ramos also saw action in the circle for the Lady Lions.  She gave up one hit and struck out three in two and one-third innings of relief.
 
Madi Creed (2-6) received the loss for the Lady Braves.  She toed the rubber for seven and two-third innings, yielding 16 hits, nine earned runs and striking out four in the 42 batters she faced.
 
UAPB jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the contest with the Lady Lions plating three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth.
 
In the bottom of the third, Hawkins crossed the plate on a Moody double to centerfield.  Then both Moody and Paige Garcia would score on Garcia's two-run homer.   Then both Hall and Nikolao would cross the dished in the bottom of the fourth inning with Nikolao scoring on a Hall triple and Hall scoring on an Aguilar single. 
 
ASU took a 6-5 lead in the top of the fifth inning with the Lady Braves plating six runs in the inning.
 
UAPB tied the contest at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning with Taylor scoring on a Kameron Graham single to right field.
 
In their half of the eighth, ASU pushed across two runs to take an 8-6 lead into the bottom of the inning.
 
UAPB would score three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to get the 9-8 win.   Hawkins scored the first run of the inning on a Shanice Akins ground out to second.  Moody would then score on a Garcia sacrifice fly to right field to tie the contest at 8-8.   Taylor would give the Lady Lions the win as she scored on a Graham double to left field. 
 
In game two, UAPB finished the contest with eight hits, while Alcorn State punched out 10.
 
Moody led the Lady Lions from the plate with three hits, while both Ortiz and Jessica Crum finished with three hits apiece to lead the Lady Braves.
 
Angelique Ramos (3-6) received the win for the Lady Lions.  She gave up 10 hits, four earned runs and struck out seven in the seven innings of work.
 
Jazmin Castillo (2-5) received the loss for ASU.  In her outing, she gave up eight hits, three earned runs and struck out two in four innings of work.
 
ASU took the early 2-0 in the contest with the Lady Braves scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.
 
UAPB regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with the Lady Lions plating three runs in the inning to take a 3-2 lead.  Then the Lady Lions would increase their lead to 6-2 with UAPB pushing across three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
 
ASU would score two more run in the top of the seventh for the 6-4 final.
