Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Feb. 13) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men's Basketball team fell to Alcorn State, 70-58 here Monday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
UAPB (7-20, 6-7 SWAC) was led by
Jaquan Lynch with a team high 20 points, followed by
Trent Steen with 12. Steen led UAPB in rebounds with seven.
ALCN (13-11, 10-3 SWAC) had two players to score 20 points in the contest with A.J. Mosby scoring a team high 22 points and DeAndre Davis finishing with 20. Both Mosby and Davis finished with five rebounds each to lead the Braves on the boards.
UAPB grabbed an early 10-4 lead on back-to-back three pointers by three-pointers by Lynch and dunks by Steen and
Devin Berry.
ALCN cut UAPB's lead to 21-20 on a Reginal Johnson three pointer with 8:40 to go in the first.
Maurice Howard would tie the contest at 39-39 with a pair of free throws with one second left in the half.
UAPB finished the first half shooting 50.0 percent (16-of-32), while ALCN shot 46.4 percent (13-of-28).
The second half would see two ties with ALCN tying the contest at 47-47 on a Johnson free throw and against at 49-49 on a Davis layup at the 12:35 mark.
ALCN would then take a 53-49 lead on a Mosby three pointer with 11:43 to go in regulation. UAPB would then cut ALCN's lead to 57-56 on a Kenney McKinney layup with 6:42 to go in the contest.
The Braves then would extend their lead to 64-57 three pointer by Mosby with 3:21 left in the contest, capping a 7-1 run by ALCN.
UAPB finished the contest shooting 42.1 percent (24-of-57), whereas ALCN shot 50.0 percent (22-of-44). The Golden Lions held the rebounding margin over the Braves 35-22
