(courtesy of www.swac.org) Martaveous McKnight had 15 points, three rebounds and three assists and Charles Jackson added 11 points, but the Golden Lions (0-5) fell to the Falcons (3-0) at Clune Arena in the third game of the Men Against Breast Cancer Showcase. UAPB trailed by just one at halftime, but were outscored 33-24 in the second half. Ryan Jackson led Air Force with a season-high 20 points and a career-high seven rebounds.
Air Force broke the game open midway through the second half with an 11-0 run to take its biggest lead of the game, 50-38, with 6:32 remaining. Sophomore Sid Tomes started the run with back-to-back 3-pointers while Manning added an old-fashioned three-point play and hit two free throws. The Golden Lions cut the lead to six, 63-57, with 20 seconds remaining, but Air Force hit four-of-four free throws in the final 17 seconds, two each by Lavelle Scottie and Trevor Lyons, to make up the final margin.
Subsequently, Martaveous McKnight was selected as this week's Southwestern Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week as well as the Madness SWAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his exceptional performance during the past week's action.
