Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Jan. 7) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men's Basketball team won their second straight in a 71-63 win over Alabama State, here Saturday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.

ASU grabbed an early 5-0 lead on a back-to-back baskets bay Demetrius Houston and Steve Rogers.  The Hornets then extended their lead to 21-13 on a Tony Armstrong field goal at the 11:10 mark.Â

The Golden Lions retook the lead with a 15-7 run on a
Charles Jackson three pointer with 3:20 left in the half.

UAPB took a 35-30 lead into the break with the Golden Lions finished the first half shooting 41.9 percent, while ASU shot 36.7 percent.

The Golden Lions pushed their lead to 47-37 on a JoeRandle Toliver layup with 15:02 remaining in the contest.Â

ASU would use a 10-4 run to cut UAPB's lead to 51-47 on a pair of made free throws by Reginald Gee with 10:54 remaining in the half.

UAPB countered with a run of their own as they took a 68-52 lead on a
Jaquan Lynch layup with 2:15 left in the game, capping a 17-5 run by the Golden Lions.

ASU pulled within five points with an 11-0 run to cut UAPB's lead 68-63, capped off by a Gee layup with 33 seconds left in the contest.

The Golden Lions would go three-for-four from the charity stripe in the final 27 seconds for the 71-63 win.

UAPB (3-12, 2-0 SWAC) had three players to score in double-figures with
Ghiavonni Robinson scoring a team high 13 points, followed by Tolliver with 12 and Lynch with 11.Â
Devin Berry led the Golden Lions on the boards with six.
ASU (3-12, 1-2 SWAC) also had three players to score in double-figures with Steve Rogers scoring a team high 13 points, followed by Torloft Thomas with 11 and Demetrius Houston with 20. Houston led the Hornets on the boards with eight and Thomas led the team in assists with five.

UAPB will return to action on Monday, January 9 against Alabama A&M at the H.O. Clemmons Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start.
