Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Jan. 9) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team held on for a 61-57 win over Alabama A&M, here Monday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.

UAPB (4-10, 1-2 SWAC) had three Lady Lions to score in double figures with
Destiny Brewton scoring a team high 14 points.Â
Niya Head finished with a double-double in scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds and
Kye Richardson rounded out the cast of double-digit performers with 10. Also, Brewton led the team in assists with four.Â
Shawntayla Harris led UAPB in rebounds and blocked shots with eight boards and four blocks.

AAMU (2-11, 0-4 SWAC) also had three players to finish in double-digit scoring with Jameica Cobb scoring a game high 21 points to lead all scorers. Ebony Johnson finished with 12 and Lauren McKee poured in 10. Johnson led the Lady Bulldogs on the boards with eight, while Hilary Williams dished out a team high six assists.Â

UAPB in the first framed jumped out to a 7-0 lead on an
Ajia Richardson three pointer with 6:41 remaining.

AAMU tied the contest at 7-7 with a 7-0 run, capped off by a Josta Totten layup with 2:58 remaining.

Faith Ohanta would score the final points of the quarter with her made three pointer at the 1:42 mark to give the Lady Lions a 10-7 lead heading into the second quarter of play.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the third quarter with a 9-3 run to take a 16-13 lead on an Alisha Davis three pointer with 2:07 remaining before the break.Â

At the half, UAPB trailed AAMU, 23-18 with the Lady Lions finished the second quarter shooting 11.8 percent (2-of-17) whereas AAMU shot 50.0 percent (6-of-12).

UAPB opened the third quarter with a 13-2 run to take a 31-25 lead on a Head three pointer with 7:29 remaining. The Lady Lions would extend their lead to 44-33 on a Malaik Muhammad three pointer with 2:56 left in the quarter.

AAMU opened the fourth quarter of play with a 15-4 run to tie the contest at 48-48 on a Lauren McKee three pointer with 4:24 to go in the contest.  The Lady Bulldogs would then score the next five points to take a 53-49 lead on a Cobb three point play with 2:15 remaining.Â

UAPB recaptured the lead on a Brewton jumper to give the Lady Lions a 56-55 lead with 1:11 remaining, capping an 8-3 run by UAPB.

Williams tied the contest at 57-57 for the Lady Bulldogs with a pair of made free throws with 1:03 to go in the contest.

Brewton and Muhammad would score the final four points for the Lady Lions to give them the 61-57 victory over AAMU.

UAPB will return to action on Saturday, January 14, with the Lady Lions traveling to Baton Rouge, La., to take on Southern University in a 3 p.m. tip at the F.G, Clark Activity Center.
