Marcus Wallace three pointer with 4:25 remaining in the first half.

GSU pulled within three on an Ervin Mitchell layup with 1:11 remaining, capping a 4-0 run by the Tigers as UAPB went into the break with a 26-23 lead over GSU.

UAPB finished the first half shooting 43.5 percent (18-of-43), while GSU shot 29.2 percent (7-of-24).Â

The Golden Lions never led the in the second half, who erased a seven point to take a 47-46 lead on pair of
Marquis Cunningham free throw with 3:39 remaining in the contest. Â

UAPB then took a 51-47 lead on back-to-back field goals by
Trent Whiting and
Ghiavonni Robinson with a 1:35 remaining in the contest.

On GSU's next possession, Hearns would hit a pair of free throws to cut UAPB's leas to 51-49 with 1:22 remaining.

With 17 seconds left in the contest, Whiting would then extend the Golden Lions' lead to 53-49 with his put back.Â

Nigel Ribeiro cut UAPB's lead to 53-51 with a pair of made free throws with seven seconds left.

A UAPB foul with less than a second left in the contest sent Ribeiro to the charity stripe to attempt to tie the contest for the Tigers. Both free throws fell short for Ribeiro as UAPB held on for the 53-51 win.

GSU (6-20, 3-11 SWAC) was paced by Hearns with a game high 23 points to lead all-scorers, while Ribeiro finished with 13. Mark Gray led the Tigers on the boards with eight.

Charles Jackson scoring a team high 15 points, followed by Whiting with 14.Â
