Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Feb. 23) - Texas Southern erased a 10 point deficit in the final five minutes to pull out a 54-52 win over the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men's Basketball Team, here Monday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
 
UAPB led 39-29 with 12:33 remaining in the contest, capped off by a Marquis Cunningham jumper.
 
TSU cut UAPB's lead to 43-42 on a David Blanks dunk with 7:18 left in regulation, capping a 12-4 run by the Tigers.
 
UAPB used a 7-0 run to push their lead to 50-42 on a Trent Whiting jumper with 4:46 left to play.
 
TSU tied the contest at 50-50 with an 8-0 run on a Derrick Griffin tip-in at the 1:42 mark.  Then the Tigers pulled ahead 52-50 on a pair of free throws by Griffin with 1:00 remaining.
 
Marcus Wallace tied the contest at 52-52 for UAPB with his layup at the 47 second mark.
 
Blanks of TSU put the Tigers ahead 54-52 with his made jumper with 20 seconds left in the contest.
 
In the final five seconds of the contest, UAPB would have two opportunities to win and to tie the contest with a miss three pointer by Ghiavonni Robinson with five seconds left.  Then a put-back JoVaugh Love, that rolled off the rim as time expired, gave the Tigers the 54-52 win.
 
UAPB finished the first half shooting 42.0 percent (21-of-50), whereas TSU shot 42.5 percent (17-of-40).
 
In the first half, TSU jumped out to an 8-3 lead on a Chris Thomas jumper with 11:56 remaining.  The Tigers would then push their leads to 20-9 on a Malcom Riley three pointer with 5:28 remaining.
 
The Golden Lions closed out the first half with a 13-4 run to take a 24-21 lead into halftime.
 
UAPB finished the first half shooting 38.1 (8-of-21), while TSU shot 31.6 percent (6-of-19).
 
TSU (14-12, 13-1) had three Tigers to score in double-figures with Griffin finishing with a double-double in 18 points and 14 rebounds.  Chris Thomas added 12 and Riley finished with 12.
 
UAPB (6-23, 4-11) had three Golden Lions to finish with 10 points apiece in Wallace, Love and Devin Berry.  Berry led the Golden Lions on the boards with six.
